Legal Services

The legal system can be confusing and hard to navigate. AWP Legal Advocates assist and support victims and survivors of domestic violence in discussing their legal options and navigating the legal system.  We can help you understand the court process, assistance with signing up for VINELINK, provide immigration and legal referrals, and more.

Please note that our legal advocates are not attorneys and are not able to provide legal advice or representation.
Victims Compensation
Crime Victim Compensation is a victim service program that can help victims of certain crimes pay for specific crime-related expenses or losses. AWP legal advocates can discuss eligibility for victim's compensation, how to apply, and assist in the application process.

Address Confidentiality Program
ACP is a statewide program that provides survivors of stalking, assault, and domestic violence with a legal, substitute address and mail forwarding. AWP legal advocates can discuss eligibility and enroll victims when appropriate.

Civil Protection Orders
AWP legal advocates can provide information on the benefits of a protection order and explain the process of how to obtain one.

Bringing Justice Home Legal Clinic
BJH is a project out of the Crossroads Safehouse that assists eligible low-income domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking survivors with no-cost legal services in civil legal matters. AWP legal advocates can sign you up for their legal clinic. Currently, the clinic takes place on Fridays via zoom.
